Thank you Babette!
Dearest Babette, I am a mother of a 3 year old girl; I have also been a reader of your books since I was very little, with the African little boy Nungu. It is a pleasure to share your books with my daughter! We recently bought "Cupid", and she is addicted to it :-) Thank you for brightening our days. Warm rgds, Lidia
Hi Babette. My friend introduced me to your books a few weeks ago, when I was talking about my 2½ year old daughter Nikki’s reading interest. I went to the library and borrowed Winni Allfours as she is horse mad (???) now she is eating carrots (excellent).
Your books are wonderful and we enjoy reading them to her as much
as she likes hearing them. It’s not going to be hard to buy for her
this Christmas. You are an absolute original.
Cheers Terry
Hi Babette.
Thank you so much for the brilliant workshop I attended last Saturday. I
went to Maidstone to study illustration 12 years ago because I wanted to
write and illustrate childrens books and was inspired by how funny your
books were.
After leaving I got my job as art technician at Weymouth College straight away (and have been there ever since!)and although I make my own humorous limited edition books which I sell as artists books, I have still never written a childrens book. Your workshop has inspired me to do this.
I have no illusions that I will ever be published but I have so many ideas and your brilliant workshop has inspired me to finally do something with them.
Thank you so much, P.s it was brilliant to meet you, never thought
that would happen when I bought my first book of yours aged 17 because
I loved it so much.
Sandra
Dearest Babette,
I won the book Mice and Mendelson years ago at Prep school in Gloucestershire for being
particularly ‘good’ that week, not sure I ever won anymore for the same reason,
however that led me to the last vampire and grasshopper and the wise owl. These
books I treasured and revisited over the following years (my Mother probably
threw them out when I discovered pop music.) And it has warmed my heart as
I sit here at my computer doing a few book/picture searches once more.
For years I wanted to be a cartoonist or an illustrator due to your good self and a Mr Disney, I never made it as one but have since attempted to write a few childrens books myself, with more in my head and I now take photographs for a living. They say never look back but I find this impossible with gems such as yours and so really this is a little note to say thankyou for adding such colour and inventiveness to my younger years.
I have so far been unable to track down the particular editions I owned
but shall I am sure in time. Keep up the good work and I look forward
to the day I might perhaps chance upon you in some Dorset field one day
when the smog of London has grown too much.
Thanks very much and best ‘fishes’, Jamie
PS...I was incidentally wondering if there ever existed a book named Grasshopper and the Piano? I am sure there were more in the series and that I owned this one also but haven’t had any luck finding it.
